VISION 2025a vision for all believers
Today there are over 2,700 languages worldwide without
a word of Scripture--that's nearly 300 million people without a word
of Scripture in their own language. Over
the last 60 years, Wycliffe Bible Translators has completed over 600 New
Testaments and many complete Bibles. But at the current rate of Scripture
translation,
it could take another 150 years to provide all the world's Bibleless people
groups with God's Word. That's too long to wait! It's time to change
the pace.
Vision 2025 is a bold call to action
and commitment, a firm "no" to the status quo. It's thinking "outside
the box" and being willing to take risks to see the work completed
in the next generation. With VISION 2025 we aim, by God's grace and in His
strength, to see a translation project underway in every language that needs
it by 2025.

Vision 2025 . . . is
an attitude that says, "We are ready to be servants
in His hands to serve the nations of the world with His
Word. We are ready to change in whatever way He wants
us to change. . ."
Dr. John Watters,
Executive
Director,
Wycliffe Bible Translators International |
There are several key aspects to Vision 2025:
-
Partnerships: working in unity with
other organisations and churches to jointly get the job done.
-
Training: equipping Wycliffe's staff
with the skills to equip others.
-
Urgency: getting the task done more
quickly than the status quo will permit.
-
Vision-sharing: motivating God's church
everywhere at home and in field countries to further
the task of Bible translation.
-
Sustainability: establishing translation
projects that continue beyond Wycliffe's involvement.
