It was sunny and warm as we arrived at Kleinplaas Guest Farm for our 2023 team retreat. This was the first retreat with a number of our new team members: Sarah, Sizu, Mesuli, Busani and Raul. We were privileged to have Raul and Bonifacio with us all the way from Mozambique!

The annual team retreat is a time to connect with each other and God, to step away from our desks and to-do lists and focus on our relationships and the bigger picture of why were are here.

On Friday we started with a time of worship, followed by a visit to the nearby YWAM base in the afternoon. YWAM has joined the Bible Translation movement, and are active in training and implementation for Oral Bible Translation initiatives. We were inspired by the passion of those we met and their dedication to missions.

In the evening we held our very own “Wycliffe’s Got Talent” show! We enjoyed a lineup of singers, musicians, actors, comedians, artists and storytellers. What a talented bunch we are! We were dazzled by Sizu’s operatic performance, moved (to tears of laughter) by Alan’s tribute to Tommy the Tortoise, and in stitches from the comedic contributions of our newest members Mesuli and Busani.

On Saturday we hit the ground running with the Kleinplaas Parkrun, sporting our Run for the Bibleless t-shirts. After a refreshing breakfast we dove into the theme of communication with Ivan Venter, who led us in an interactive learning session for the remainder of the day.

What a privilege to be part of such a vibrant team.
