What is your role in Bible Translation (or nature of your connection to WSA)? Tell us a bit about what you do
I am seconded to SIL International as part in the Translation Resources team. I create free Koine Greek training using a “communicative” approach. These video lessons are published on the YouTube channel “Alpha with Angela”.
I teach Greek by speaking Greek, not via the use of another language, which makes these lessons accessible to anyone of any language background. You can read more about this project here: www.freegreek.online
What are some of your hobbies and interests?
I love studying and will read or listen to anything that will help me to learn. I enjoy scientific articles about health and fitness, Greek and Hebrew textbooks, theology and the Far Side. I’m still trying to learn spoken Arabic. I also like painting nature and wildlife and have managed to keep a few pitiful pot plants alive. I used to do triathlons and I completed Ironman South Africa twice, but now I like to go for long walks to relax, contemplate life and connect with my Maker. I also love animals, especially my cat.
What is something you enjoy about being part of WSA and/or Bible Translation?
I love being part of a community with the same vision for the Scriptures and I love hearing feedback about how our Greek resources are being used. I especially love hearing from individuals who are enjoying my lessons, from Bible translation workers to children.
